Sprites:
The Five Tress what? Can't make sense of sprites, mobiles and witches? Read on and all will become clear.
The Five Trees Forest is an invisible world that is in exactly the same place as our world.
It has landmarks like the Down the Back of the Settee Mines (always full of treasure!)...
...and characters like the Wise Sheep...
...and baddies, wicked witches like Shrunk Washing Witch...
The only creatures that can jump between our world and the Five Trees Forest are sprites, and when they are in our world, sprites like to live in mobile phones because the batteries keep them warm, and the radio waves make them giggle.
To pick up and drop off sprites from the Forest, humans hold a Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled phone up to gateways ("smart" posters with NFC chips on) in places in the Five Trees Forest landscape, or find a spell like "bats bums" hidden in the poster and use their own phone to send it as a text, and their sprite will hop into or out of the phone.
Sprites talk to humans by sending messages that appear out of thin air (humans sometimes call these “text messages”), asking for help to win treasure, and to fight the wicked witches.
To help the sprites, humans have to answer questions like “Which person in your life would you haunt and why?”. These questions are a very powerful kind of magic, that only humans can provide, because humans have experiences and imagination to draw on which sprites don't.
Answers to these questions are what keep the forest alive, becoming part of the history of the Five Trees Forest, with each new group of participants preserving the forest and adding to the story.
